Meet Maritza Zermeno
Community organizer. Election officer. Advocate for Mount Vernon families.
Service rooted in community
I came to the United States from Mexico in 2000 and became a citizen in 2008. I have worked to help neighbors participate in civic life and to make government more accessible.
As a Chief Election Officer in more than 20 elections, I have worked to protect and support the voting process. I have helped register more than 2,000 voters and founded the Fairfax County Democratic Committee’s Latino Caucus.
My approach is to listen, build partnerships, solve problems, and report results.

Why I’m running
People who work, teach, protect, and serve in Fairfax should be able to afford to live here. Government should respond promptly and deliver projects it has promised. I am running to make those goals central to every county decision.
